If you haven't seen the viral TikTok of Camille and Tabitha's wedding, we are here to give you the details! Camille, of Indo-Caribbean descent, and her wife Tabitha tied the knot in Cancun, Mexico. We are here for representation, breaking barriers, and beautiful love stories! Read below to find out more!
How did you both meet?
Tabby and I unexpectedly crossed paths - through a dating app, which was out of the norm for both of us. Amidst the challenges of the Covid era, we found each other on 'Hinge' and quickly connected. Our initial conversations flowed effortlessly, sparking a bond that deepened with each passing day. A couple of months of heartfelt discussions led to our first date, where our connection only intensified in person. It was a moment of clarity - we knew we had found something extraordinary in each other.

Being an interracial queer couple, was it difficult with family?
Surprisingly, it wasn't complicated with our families at all. We are incredibly fortunate to have the full support of both families. Tabby's family was open and eager to understand our religion and culture. Their willingness to learn and embrace our traditions made the process much smoother and more meaningful.

How was the process of deciding to do a Hindu ceremony?
Deciding to have a Hindu ceremony was deeply personal and meaningful for me. Growing up and knowing I was gay, I often worried about whether I would ever get to experience a Hindu ceremony within a same-sex relationship. In our culture, such a ceremony has traditionally been considered taboo. However, it's 2024, and we knew that it was something we could make happen.
Choosing our Pandita was one of the easiest decisions we made during our planning. Pandita Pratima is very active within the LGBTQ+ community. She exudes a calmness we can't explain and is well-respected for her inclusive approach to rituals and ceremonies. Her involvement gave us spiritual guidance and the cultural affirmation we needed to feel fully supported in our decision.

Planning a wedding, especially a destination wedding, can be very stressful. Thankfully, my wife, Tabby, was always there to assure and calm me down throughout the process. Her steady support was invaluable. Additionally, the help from my sister and having a wedding planner made a tremendous difference, easing a lot of the stress and ensuring everything ran smoothly. One fun quirk was that we included a mix of our cultural traditions, creating a unique and inclusive celebration that represented us as a couple.

It's pride month! Please both share advice to other Indo-Caribbean queer individuals!
First off, HAPPY PRIDE! I’m so proud to be a part of this beautiful community.
I won't sugarcoat it: our culture is beautiful, but our community can be very judgmental. Despite this, it brings me so much happiness and joy to see more and more individuals coming out and living their truth. Forget the haters!
Initially, Tabby and I envisioned an intimate wedding. However, as we reflected more, we realized we needed to showcase our love to the world—especially to those who feel such a celebration isn't possible. We want to inspire hope. My journey has been challenging, but I wouldn't change a thing. With that said…..Stand up for yourself, surround yourself with incredible people, and stay true to who you are.

ICB wants to thank Camille & Tabitha for sharing their love story with us and being the representation we need!
